Glass choices for glass railing systems

When choosing the right glass for your glass railing system, there are a number of options to consider. One thing you don’t have to worry about is the basic type of glass being used.

All Marquis Railing systems are made with tempered glass. Tempered glass is the safest option and one that is much more resistant than ordinary glass. Tempered glass is made by heating and cooling a piece of glass in a tempering furnace. The glass is heated to approximately 1200 degrees Fahrenheit and then cooled rapidly. After the glass has been cooled, it is much stronger than before and, even if it does break, it breaks into small pieces that are less likely to cause injury.

So the choice to make is what style or colour you want for the glass. Before any glass railing installation begins, we will sit down with you and discuss how you want the railing to look. Here are a few of the choices we offer:

Clear
Is your railing system outside and in front of an amazing view? Most people who choose clear glass want their views completely unobstructed and they want to enjoy the nature around them. This is also a great choice for interior railings in order to give the impression of space.

Privacy glass
Glass that is opaque or obscured is glass that can’t be seen through, or very little can be seen through. For people who want the openness of a glass railing system but don’t want their neighbours or the traffic to see what they’re doing, this is a great option. In some cases, privacy glass is only installed around areas to keep private, such as a hot tub, while the rest of the glass is clear.

Tinted
This is perfect if you want shade from the sun, but still want to see everything outside. You may even be able to choose the colour.
